I have been in scouting since Beavers and have found every camp and meeting great.
When you are part of a unit you go on camps, expeditions and activity weekends. You learn tones of life skills whilst having fun. One very helpful skill is how to put a tent up, especially when you a young leader for a younger age range who struggle with this. You meet new, interesting people all the time and get to go on once in a lifetime opportunities such as summer expedition, caving and of course the World Scout Jamboree (WSJ).
To get on the WSJ you just need to be part of your local unit and be in the age range requirement which only happens once in your life.
You will be asked to attend a Selection Weekend where you will take part in numerous team work based activities, such as using pioneering poles and rope to get over a string fence. And let me tell you if you fail it's very painful... aha... It's basically weekend of fun activities and a small interview which is composed of the most random questions ever!!!
